Description

The Healey 100 BN1 was the first of the Austin and Healey partnership built cars. The car was called a 100 after the speed it was capable of although production cars did exceed this with a 104 mph achieved with the screen up and 111 mph with the screen lowered into its racing position. These cars went on to win many records in tuned up versions namely maintaining 132mph over a 24 hour period and with a super charger and streamlined nose fitted reaching 192mph at Bonneville Salt Flats, a record for a car under 3 litres. The car became known as the 100/4 after the 4 cylinders when the 100/6, a 6 cylinder model succeeded it. In all 14634 100/4 were made of which around 850 were right hand drive. Of these it’s thought 250 were home market cars.
This example of the 100/4 BN1 is restored to original factory spec and comes complete with a heritage certificate. This home market car is in top condition, finished in Carmine red, with a red interior and black hood. Every aspect of this car has been restored, checked and refurbished with new hood, tonneau cover and side screens, new 72 spoke wheels and aluminium petrol tank. The car is also fitted with a discreetly placed cooling fan not visible in the engine compartment but placed in front of the larger core radiator. The engine was restored by Orchard Restorations, a mark specialist and the gearbox by Hardy Engineering, who is also a specialist in these cars.
