We love these here and always try and have an XK or two around! This is a very nice 1960 Jaguar XK150 FHC 3.4, UK RHD, Manual, Finished in Red with Black Leather interior. She drives beautifully, has Power Steering, and is ready for her next home!
'The Jaguar XK150 is undeniably one of the world's fastest and safest cars. It is quiet and exceptionally refined mechanically, docile and comfortable. As with most cars, there are a few body details which could be improved, but we do not know of any more outstanding example of value for money.' - Autocar.
A progressive development of the sensational XK120 and XK140, the XK150 retained the same basic chassis, 3.4-litre engine and four-speed Moss transmission of its predecessors but benefited from an entirely new body providing increased interior space and improved visibility courtesy of a single-piece wrap-around windscreen. A higher front wing line and broader radiator grille were other obvious differences but the new model's main talking point was its Dunlop disc brakes; at last the XK had stopping power to match its prodigious straight-line speed. Introduced in the spring of 1957, the XK150 was available at first only in fixed and drophead coupé forms, the open roadster version not appearing until the following year. At 190bhp, the engine's maximum power output was identical to that of the XK140, so performance was little changed.
Ours is an original UK right hand drive car in Carmen Red. She was manufactured on the 24th February 1960 and was sold by Rossleigh, the Jaguar Dealer in Aberdeen, Scotland, to her first owner, a Mrs J. F. Shields of Huntly. Aberdeenshire. She was originally finished in Mist Grey with Dark Blue Leather but was changed during the restoration to the current colour scheme. The Bodywork, paintwork and chrome were restored some years ago & still in superb condition. Included in the restoration – new floor – new black leather interior – rebuilt engine & manual gearbox, new clutch, all new brakes, Stainless Steel exhaust system. Recent upgrades include power steering – 123 ignition, distributor, Kenlowe Fan, Polybushed front suspension – upgraded shocks. There is a Large history file including the Heritage Certificate.
The car has been with the previous owner for over 11 years and is now ready, driving well, for her new owner. The Power Steering is an absolute revelation on an XK, you will not believe how easy she is to drive! Summer is just around the corner!
