The Porsche 964 was the first 911to have 4-wheel drive, the perfect combination with a manual 5-speed six-cylinder! At its introduction, its form remained recognisable even though 85% of the car was new according to Porsche. The new features were things like the retractable spoiler as well as ABS and power steering.
964 was the internal name Porsche gave the new car, indicating the 911’s generation. We know it of course by its official Porsche 911 name. Other than the rear logo, 4-wheel drive 964’s are distinguishable by their attractive wider bodywork, its good looks accentuated by a deep black finish and silver alloy wheels.
The so-called M64 3.6-litre six-cylinder boxer engine was new for the 964 and delivered 250 Hp with a torque of 310 Nm. The distribution of power is adjusted according to the prevailing driving conditions. A drive switch in the centre console allows you to choose the ideal setting whether you are on a mountain road or on the Autobahn and anything in between. There is a choice between rear-wheel drive or AWD.
The 964 convertible has a retractable black linen hood in very good shape. The hood is easy to operate and fits closely. Only 4,802 Carrera 4 convertibles were built in contrast to the 13,353 Carrera 4 coupé versions.
This Porsche 964 has clocked up 150,000 kilometres and is in a great and original state. The panelwork is naturally thin and correctly aligned. To complement the exterior we have a very fine black leather interior, black on black in other words. Both carpets and dashboard are in excellent condition. The manual transmission, air-conditioning, electric seats and convertible hood all work as intended and elevate this Porsche 964 to a proper collector’s item.
Concluding we cannot say other than this is a very original and correct example with incredible presence and delightful handling.
Our Porsche comes with all of its original paperwork including the service booklet, invoices, reports and registration documents. The spare key is also included.
In short, this is a delightful Porsche 911 for now and the future.
