It's one of the most iconic American cars ever – and now the 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback has been immortalised in Lego.
The 183-piece kit has been produced as part of the Lego Speed Champions range, and has been designed to look as authentic as possible – which, given that it's created out small pieces of plastic rather than large pieces of metal, is no easy feat.
Resplendent in green bodywork with gold dual stripes and wheels, it also comes with race graphic stickers, a removable windscreen and a mini-figure driver wearing a classic racing suit. There's even a Ford-branded timing board thrown in for good measure.
The '68 Mustang joins the multi-Le Mans-winning Ford GT40, a Fiesta WRC rally car, a classic Ford hot rod and several newer models in getting its own Lego kit.
Matt Monroe, Ford licensing manager, said, “We worked closely with Lego to design a vintage Mustang, personalising the fastback with stripes and decals that harken back to Ford’s racing heritage.”
The kit will be available from March 1 and will cost $14.99 in the US. We don't yet have a confirmed UK price, but we already know what we want for Christmas.
