BUCKLER VARIOUS

Various.

Although most of the 400 or so Bucklers built were supplied in kit form or even as a bare chassis, Derek BucklerĂs firm justifies inclusion in our A to Z because in the early days some MK Vs and 90s (both 1172cc Ford-based space frame two-seaters) were factory-built. The DD1 (one known survivor) and DD2 had de Dion rear suspension as an option and the DD2 was designed to accept the Mistral shell but Buckler cars never had a fixed specification, thus the engines used varied. Mk V was intended as a cycle-wing sports/trials car; Mk V was intended as a cycle-wing sports/trials car; Mk VI is a 1wb car, Mk X and Mk XI are all-enveloping Taylor-bodied sports cars sold as three-seaters. Smooth '90' is a sports-racer, and leads to DD1 and DD2. Company's swansong is the backbone chassis'd BB100, of which the prototype was built in 1958 and the second and final car in 1960/61.
