CITROEN AMI 8

4-door 4-seater saloon/estate.

Compared with Ami 6, had more power and front discs, plus a smoothed-out style. The 6 had had a nasty exaggerated Anglia-tyoe reverse slope rear window, but Ami 8 had fastback style on same front and centre passenger box. Like 2CV/Dyanes, used air-cooled horizontally opposed flat-twin engine and front-wheel drive, plus same interlinked all-independent suspension. The French loved it and in the UK so did the trendies, but too slow (72mph) to be interesting. They've nearly all disappeared now: is it a blessing?
