DATSUN 240Z/260Z/260Z 2 + 2
2-door 2-seater, 2 + 2-seater sports coupé.
Famous Goertz-styled Z-car, which outsold every European sports car in the USA, changing Datsun's image completely. 'The Big Healey lives!', as the pundits said, for the six-cylinder engine bellowed and brutal character impressed in the same way. All-independent suspension and front discs; automatic transmission in USA not here. The first were fastest (125mph) and most nimble, then weight and refinement grew. Also badged 'Nissan Fairlady' with 2-litre engine (a few 25-valvers) for some markets. US versions were 280Z with 2753cc from 1975. Replaced by larger 280ZX in 1978.
