Fiat
FIAT 500D/GIARDINIERA

2-door 4-seater saloon/estate.

They don't come any smaller than this - Fiat's smallest post-war car. Air-cooled two-cylinder engine in tail was upright in saloon, on side in estate car. No refinements, which meant 'crash' gearbox, tiny drum brakes and marginal (60mph at best) performance, yet masses of character. On fine days tall drivers navigated with head out of the sun roof! Replaced by 126 for 1973.
