Fiat's 'Cortina beater' effectively took over from long-running 1100 range. Classic front-engine rear-drive with coil spring suspension all round (beam axle at rear), and first use of new engine family. Twin-cam engines only in 'Special T' versions of this range, larger rtpe in 1973-74 only. Useful, versatile, estate only came with 1.2-litre engine. All-round disc braking was a nice touch on all derivatives.
