FORD TWIN-CAM

2-door 4-seater saloon.

Boreham-developed 'base' competition car using strengthened body shell and running gear from Lotus-Cortina, including Lotus twin-cam engine. Built at rate of 1000 per year say Ford, only in white with black trim. Hard ride, direct steering, 'nervous' oversteery handling, exhilarating performance up to 113mph top speed. In race-tuned form with 150-170bhp, it was a potential outright, not merely class, winner. Ford's front-line 'works' car for three seasons - then replaced by RS1600.
