Jaguar
JAGUAR XJ6 2.8/4.2 SERIES I

5-seater saloon.

Sir William Lyons' long-running masterpiece, still made in SIII form in the late 1980s. Original cars had shorted (109ins) wheelbase, and 2.8-litre engine had an eye to European tax brackets. Came with all-independent suspension, four-wheel discs, amazing refinement and elegant looks, plus sparkling performance (120mph) from 4.2-litre version. Most with automatic transmission, all with quality problems. Pity about the rust.
