MASERATI QUATTROPORTE I

4-door 5-seater saloon.

Italy's only four-door supercar of the period, with square Frua-type styling, not helped by bizarre nose treatment. As ever, a tubular steel frame, this time with more boxing for stiffness, and de Dion rear suspension until 1966. 260bhp, and 130mph top speed, even with smaller engine. 4.7-litres from 1967/68. Air conditioning, too, on late models. Come to terms with the styling, and you have a neglected classic. Quattroporte II (see below) was entirely different.
