OPEL KADETT (1973-79)

2-dor/4-door 4-seater saloon/coupé/hatchback/estate.

Extremely complex range of 'T-Car' Kadetts, the German equivalent of the last Vauxhall Viva/Magnum series, and forming the basis of the UK Vauxhall Chevette. All coil spring suspension (rigid axle rear), all drum brakes only on bottom-line models (otherwise front discs), with smooth syling, including a really attractive fastback coupé. All 'bread-and-butter' models had small engines. Cam-in-head 1.6/1.9/2.0 engines fitted to Rallye coupés only. 80mph for normal Kadetts, but up to 115mph for Rallye models. GT/Es, with fuel injection, were best of all.
