Rover
ROVER 3500 (also called THREE THOUSAND FIVE 1968-70)

4-door 4-seater saloon.

An enterprising 'shoe-horn' job, squeezing the new light-alloy V8 engine into the P6 2000's structure, with no more than minor chassis and sheet metal changes. All first-generation cars had Borg Warner automatic transmission, and top speed with 144bhp was 117mph. Like 2000, the V8-engined car had a soft ride, but sure-footed handling, and a rather cramped interior. Only the deeper chin and the badging gave the game away, so the 3500 was a great 'Q' car, much vaunted by the police.
