TOYOTA CROWN 2600 (1971-74)

4-door 5-seater saloon/estate, 2-door 5-seater hardtop coupé.

To replaced the late-sixties style Crown, the 1971 Crown had larger, flashy, US-angled coachwork, on a Granada-length 102ins wheelbase and floorpan. All three body types were sold in the UK, but only with the 2.6-litre/140bhp (gross) engines. Some with automatic transmission, many with power assisted steering. Styling noted for round nose and long horizontal slot above the grille. Estate had third, rear-facing, row of seats. All were heavy (more than 3000lbs), thirsty (18mpg), but could beat 100mph.
