VAUXHALL VIVA (HC TYPE)
2-door/4-door saloon/estate car.
Long-running and commercially successful small/medium range, on 97ins wheelbase version of HB floorpan and running gear, but with barrel-profiled smooth new body style. In true GM/Vauxhall style, all manner of engines and trim combinations, plus the basis for the Firenza coupé models. Most with small Viva-type engines (1256cc for 1972 on), others with Victor type overhead cam slant-four (introduced early 1972). Most with front discs, which were standardised for 1974 when big-engined cars become Magnums. Small engines/transmission also went into later Chevettes, which eventually ousted the old-fashioned but reliable Vivas.
