Brough Superior

Brough Superior
BROUGH SUPERIOR XII

Sports saloon.

Massive super-car of Alvis-like aspect (Charlesworth made the body) in a rigid underslung, electrically-welded chassis of Brough's own design. Girling brakes and Ford axles: engine's the familiar old Lincoln-Zephyr converted to 12-volt electrics, but it wasn't up to such a heavy car. A list price of £1250 explains why people didn't fall for such refinements as a screenwash and internal anti-condensation wipers. The prototype survives.
