MG
MG 18/80 MK II

Open 2-seater, open 4-seater, saloon, various coupés.

A classic case of spot the difference, but it is there. A wider track (52ins) gave more passenger space, a slightly lower final drive was specified (4.27:1 as opposed to 4.25:1 for the MK I), bigger 14ins brakes, a remote control extension for the gear level, a revised rocker cover breather, and four speeds in the 'box at last. MK I and II production overlapped, and in 1930 MG introduced the MK II Speed model, which was actually a MK I chassis with Dewandre servo brakes, an outside handbrake and cutaway driver's door. A MK II was tested at 78mph. Delightful, much underrated cars.
