Originally introduced in February 1931 as the attention-grabbing but ultimately not particularly successful £100 open two-seater. Based on ohc Minor, but with sidevalve version of engine and more basic level of equipment. More expensive four-seater tourer, coachbuilt saloon and fabric saloon followed and found more favour. Chrome rad shell and revised 'Eddyfree' styling for 1932, with no roof peak and with folding head, where applicable, replaced, as on all '32 Morrises, by Pytchley sliding-head. With ohv models dropped, expanded range for 1933 and all except £100 Minor have four speeds. '34 sees restyled body, synchro 'box, hydraulic brakes and hydraulic dampers. Good survival rate and, whatever the purists say, sidevalve cars are a more practical proposition than the ohc Minors.
