Railton

Railton
RAILTON LIGHT SPORTS

4-seater tourer.

At the time it was claimed to be the fastest touring car in the world, and it definitely provided the best performance per pound weight ratio available in the thirties. The chassis was much modified, with repositioned engine and quicker steering, and fitted with a sketchy tourer body. It was tested at 98.9mph in standard trim - all for £878. 0-60mph was possible in under 10secs, so it was no wonder that The Autocar called the Railton '10 years ahead of its time'. A lot more 'Light Sports' claim to be the genuine article than were made.
