RENAULT MONASIX/MONASTELLA

7-seater saloon, coachbuilt saloon, Weymann saloon, tourer, English torpedo, sports saloon, drophead coupé, drophead saloon.

The same old stodgy formula as used by the firm through the twenties and thirties, so there were uncertain mechanical brakes, Michelin disc wheels, transverse leaf rear suspension which gave a good ride over rough surfaces but pretty awful handling, and uninspiring dashboards. Gravity feed standard, there was central control for the three speed 'box, with front radiator and coil ignition as '30 season innovations, unit 'boxes for '31 and downdraught carbs and synchro for '32. Gear ratios of 6.5:1, 12.5:1 and 22.5:1 indicate the complete lack of performance. Coal scuttle front belies the new-fangled rad positioning.
