RILEY NINE (1936-37)
Merlin saloon, Kestrel saloon, Monaco saloon, touring saloon.
Entirely new chassis frame, box section with built up tubular X-members and X-form cable bracing, while all had liberally drilled side members. New also was an open prop shaft instead of the previously favoured torque tube, and Girling rod brakes, changes which gave better brakes but slightly impaired handling. The Monaco and Touring saloon were announced for 1937, the former selling for £298 complete with sunshine roof, both available with the option of a three-speed synchro 'box with dual overdrive.
