RILEY BIG FOUR
Adelphi saloon, touring saloon, close-coupled saloon, Kestrel saloon, Lynx tourer.
One of the most underrated cars of the thirties, and definitely one of Riley's best. The four-cylinder engine endowed the saloons with near 90mph top speed and acceleration to match, the gearbox was of the dual overdrive type, giving five ratios in all, and there was a new and suitable massive seven X-member frame. Other features included Jackall hydraulic system, bolt-on wire wheels, Luvax hydraulic dampers and 15ins Girling brakes. The Kestrel saloon looks even better on this chassis, and the one Lynx that was built survives.
