ROVER SCARAB

2-seat tourer.

Given the bird by the dealers, and rightly so, the Scarab never went into production and would probably have killed a firm priding itself on middle-weight, middle-class products. The car used a pushrod ohv air cooled vee-twin engine, which was fitted into a ladder type chassis with independent suspension by coil springs on a sliding pillar at the front and by a coil spring swing axle set-up at the rear. There was a dummy front radiator, and the machine suffered from over-heating, noise and engine roughness. It appeared at Olympia but never for public consumption.
