Rover
ROVER SPEED PILOT

Saloon, Hastings coupé, various specials.

Little did anyone know it, but this car really marked a Rover revival, as it was the first car from the firm with an underslung frame, which allowed lower and more sporting bodywork to be fitted. This one had a 112ins wheelbase, closer gear ratios, and triple carbs, otherwise much was as for its more pedestrian stablemate. Some attractive semi-bespoke bodywork fitted by, among others, Charlesworth and Grose, while the free wheel allowed clutchless changes without the complication of a synchromesh.
