Triumph
TRIUMPH DOLOMITE STRAIGHT EIGHT

2-seater sports.

The one that got away, although quite why a struggling firm like Triumph built it nobody knows. Engine was superb, using twin ohc, gear driven from the centre of the two-part alloy crankcase (very like the 8C Alfa), and there was a Roots type blower fitted - this unit was mated to a four speed Wilson 'box. Frame had all round semi-elliptics, there were enormous 16ins drum brakes, and with rakish two-seat body it also looked suspiciously like an Alfa. 100mph performance guaranteed, and two survive.
