VALE SPECIAL

2-seater, 4-seater Tourette.

If you didn't like the idea of a Triumph Super Seven engine in a Rubery Owen underslung frame and clad in rakish bodywork, it was a 'Vile' - otherwise it was at least as good in most respects as a J2 MG. Chassis had semi-elliptics all round, brakes were Triumph hydraulics, and the worm driver rear axle also came from Coventry. Rakish bodies were fitted, but the 65mph top whack wasn't exactly sparkling, though braes and handling were excellent. Tourettes and later two seaters had 1098cc Coventry-Climax engines, and the whole ensemble sold for £192 10s in 1933.
