Few events test both cars and competitors to the same degree as Le Jog, the Historic Endurance Rally Organisation’s charge from Lands End to John O’Groats, and this year’s event was no exception. In addition to autocross tests, timed sections and tiredness, participants had to deal with some of the worst weather in recent years, which also caused the route to be changed due to the closure of the Forth Road Bridge.
The 66-strong entry was led by Bob and Sue McLean in their Rover P4, while a number of crews ran into problems due to high winds and flooding, including Tim Lawrence and Alan Pettit, who had to push their MGB out of a waterlogged section before an overnight stop at Slaley Hall.
By the end of the rally, Andy Lane and Iain Tullie had taken the spoils at the wheel of their Volvo 123GT, leading the PV544 of Dan Willan and Martyn Taylor.
