A 1932 Packard Twin Six 905 Coupe Roadster once owned by Clark Cable is due to go under the hammer at Gooding & Company’s Scottsdale auction from 20-21 January. The rare car, described as a ‘100-point’ concours example, is the centrepiece of a collection from the estate of Thomas A Moretti – a renowned Packard Twelve enthusiast.
Moretti carried out full restorations on five of his Packard Twelves, all of which went on to win First in Class at Pebble Beach.
Six of his Packards will be sold at Scottsdale: the Clark Gable car (above) is estimated to fetch between $650-850,000. Alongside it will be a 1933 1005 Coupe Roadster ($350-£425,000), a ’34 1107 Convertible Victoria ($450-$650,000), and an 1107 Seven-Passenger Touring of the same vintage ($400-$550,000).
Completing the line-up are a 1936 1407 Coupe Roadster (below, $350-$425,000) and a 1408 All-Weather Town Car (above, $250-$350,000).
