Nine Motorama and Detroit Motor Show concept cars that were saved from the crusher will take pride of place at the 18th annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance from 8-10 March.
The models on show include the 1949 Cadillac Fleetwood Coupe De Ville prototype (bottom), two 1953 LeMans roadsters (below), a 1953 El Dorado Special, a 1956 Eldorado Brougham Town Car, a 1959 Cyclone (main pic) and a 1961 El Dorado Chicago Auto Show car. All were built under the supervision of GM’s styling chief Harley Earl.
Meanwhile, the 2002 Cien supercar and the 1000bhp 2003 Cadillac Sixteen luxury sports car will give a glimpse into the firm’s thinking for the coming century.
Amelia Concours founder and chairman Bill Warner said: "Cadillac's dedication to precision and technological leadership has been part of its corporate DNA since the company was founded in 1902. That spirit is personified in its concept cars. They're not just interesting styling exercises, they're important for the entire automotive industry."
The Florida event will also celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Ford’s GT40, Porsche’s 911 and the Corvette Stingray with key examples of each on show – including the former’s double Le Mans winner.
