A seven-day tour of the Scottish Highlands will begin this week to mark the 50th anniversary of the Daimler & Lanchester Owners' Club.
More than 20 cars will be taking part in the run, including the Daimler Dauphin, two Consorts and a special-bodied DE27, but the majority of the pack – some 11 cars – will be SP250 'Darts'. In total, 37 drivers and passengers will be involved.
The tour begins at Crieff Hydro Hotel, Perthshire on 4 May where participants will enjoy a formal dinner before setting off to Argyll the following morning. The first day will take in Loch Earn, Glen Dochart, Loch Lomond and Loch Long before crossing the Rest and Be Thankful and pressing on to Inverary Castle.
Along the way the group will witness some of the most breathtaking scenery Scotland has to offer, from the mountains of Glen Coe to the dense woodland of Aberfeldy before returning to their point of origin for a celebratory dinner.
The highlights include Balmoral Castle, Culloden battlefield and the Isle of Skye.
Duncan Saunders, a Lanchester restorer and the only surviving founding member of the club said: "Driving our Daimler and Lanchester motor cars in Scotland is always a pleasure for we can enjoy the quiet roads, the scenery, the history and the challenges of the landscape; add to those the fact of being in the company of like minded enthusiasts. Friendships within the club, made over the years, withstand the test of time and I look forward to meeting old friends and making new ones.”
