Multiple previous winners Mark and Sue Godfrey, who had forsaken their MG TC for their MGB, stormed through the field to take victory – despite a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes on day one. Early success for John Criswell and Robin Whiteside in their Healey 3000 and a spirited charge by Graham Walker and Sean Toohey in an Elan Sprint on the second day wasn't enough to trouble the eventual winners.
Malcolm Davies won the pre-war category with his Alvis Speed 20 Cross and Ellis tourer, which also claimed top concours honours. There could only be one Spirit of the Rally winner, though, as Swiss entrants Oliver Frantz and Erdmute Krieger completed the entire route in their immaculate Bentley Continental S1.
In total, 73 of the 80 crews completed the 480-mile route – many said they will be back in 2015.
The event raised over £3000 for the local arm of charity Blind Veterans UK, which welcomed the rally with open arms on Prologue day.
