Historic motor sport fans are set to enjoy a weekend of anniversaries at Croft, as the circuit itself, the 'modern' F3 series and the Ford Mustang all turn 50 in North Yorkshire. The event is due to take place on 2-3 August.
In all, 18 races are planned for the meeting, and more than 200 race cars are expected to take part. At least four Ford Mustangs will be taking to the track, in addition to a 5.7-litre Chevrolet Camaro, several Lotuses, a 1972 Jaguar E-type, a '78 Lancia Monte Carlo and a '71 Alfa Romeo Bertone.
Alfa Romeo GTAs, Lotus Cortinas, Volkswagen Beetles, Hillman Imps, Ford Anglias and Minis will also be joining the Historic Touring Cars class.
Croft boasts a rich heritage, having staged its first event – the Daily Mirror Trophy Meeting – on 3 August 1964, and having hosted Ayrton Senna, James Hunt and Dario Franchitti at various points throughout its history.
Circuit manager Mike Cantelo told C&SC: "Now in its fifth year, Croft’s Nostalgia Weekend continues to go from strength to strength, and its on-track drama and diversity are staple elements of what makes the event such a roaring success.
“For lovers of classic cars, the Nostalgia Weekend will be akin to being a kid inside a sweet shop. It promises to be a feast for all the senses – and tremendous value family fun. Don’t miss it!”
Tickets cost £13 for Saturday entry, £18 for Sunday, or £23 for both days. Accompanied children under 15 go free.
