A 1953 Delahaye 235 MS and a 1931 Hispano-Suiza J12 have supplemented an already burgeoning line-up for the Chubb Concours d'Elegance, taking place at Syon House, Brentford on 3 September.
The Delahaye has been entered into the 'Dramatic Coachwork' class, due to its one-off bodywork by French company Chapron. It featured at the 1953 Paris Auto Salon and is one of only 85 examples built. Its appearance at Salon Privé will be the first time that the car has been shown in public in over 20 years.
The 235 was the last model that Delahaye offered and was capable of reaching more than 100mph thanks to its aerodynamic bodywork and 3.5-litre six-cylinder engine, which produced 150bhp-plus.
The Hispano-Suiza is a contender in the Fit for a King class, with its royal connection coming from the vice president of the firm Prince Charles Casimir Poniatowski, for whom the car was built. As well as being an important figure in the Swiss/Spanish enterprise, he was also a descendant of the last Polish king.
As well as competing for concours honours, both cars will also be taking part in the Tour d'Elegance, with a drive to Wilton House in Wiltshire on 2 September.
