Allard Sports Cars will make its debut at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show from 14-16 November after featuring on the owners' club stand last year – 57 years since its last outing at an international motor show.
"Our exhibit represents the first tentative step in our plan to revive Allard as a small specialist manufacturer," said design and engineering director Lloyd Allard. "We will have our prototype Palm Beach Mk3 rolling chassis on the stand, a car Sydney Allard considered and could have built in 1959, had the market conditions been right for such a car."
The last Palm Beach Mk2 was built in 1958 and exported to the USA, where it was eventually purchased by its current owner, John Hartson. The new prototype features a similar 3.4-litre straight-six engine borrowed from the Jaguar XK140, mated to a Moss overdrive gearbox and Salisbury rear axle.
"The chassis has been strengthened to increase torsional stiffness," said Allard. "Additional hoops provide rigidity to support the aluminium body and to protect the fuel tank.
"The overall body design will be similar to the Palm Beach Mk2, but there will be a new curved windscreen and a front-end nose section that lifts up the rear, similar to the Allard JR."
