A 1933 Pierce-Arrow Silver Arrow – one of just five examples ever built – will take centre stage at the second annual Arizona Concours d'Elegance on 11 January.
The rare car is one of just three of its type thought to survive and will headline a new Pierce-Arrow class. It was formerly in the collection of the late William Harrah, in whose ownership it was fully restored at his Reno, Nevada facility. It is now owned by the Academy of Art University Automobile Museum in San Francisco.
"The Arizona Concours d'Elegance is honoured to welcome this wonderful Pierce-Arrow Silver Arrow, which will be one of the highlights of the 2015 Arizona Concours," said executive director Kevin Cornish. "The legendary Silver Arrow is one of the most beautiful cars ever made, and its Art Deco design will complement that of the Arizona Biltmore architecture."
The Silver Arrow was first shown at the New York Auto Show in 1933, where it stunned the crowd with its futuristic styling. Its V12 engine was powerful enough to take the hefty coupe to a top speed of 115mph.
