Whether you prefer the design purity of the earliest ‘flying mirror’ Testarossa or the powerhouse performance of the last of the line, there’s sure to be something to tickle your fancy at Silverstone Auctions’ 23 May sale.
A 4.9-litre V12-powered F512M is expected to be one of the highlights of the event and is estimated at £280-330,000. As one of just 501 examples ever built, the 1994 car offers an interesting opportunity for investors and collectors alike, with the auction house claiming an increase in value of more than 50% in the past six months.
The 390bhp Ferrari was delivered new to the German market in 1994 and was finished in Giallo Modena with Nero leather interior. It was later sold and exported to Japan, from where is has recently returned. It has covered a meagre 11,000 miles since new and will be supplied with three keys, service books, a toolbox, plus a Tubi exhaust.
The later car will be followed by one of the earliest – and rarest – of all Testarossas, a ‘flying mirror’ car from 1986. First delivered to Switzerland, it was repainted in Giallo Fly Yellow from its original Bianco in its early life. In 2004 the Ferrari was sold to a collector in the UK, while it was registered two years later.
