Salon Privé – one of the UK’s leading classic concours and supercar events – is to celebrate its 10th anniversary from 3-5 September with a move to the historic Blenheim Palace, with greater access being offered thanks to a cut-price public day, which has a ticket cost of £30.
The event will be focused around the Concours d’Elegance, which this year will be judged by a team of experts including FIVA president Patrick Rollet, historian Adolfo Orsi, and C&SC’s own Mick Walsh, which will be headed by five-times Le Mans-winner Derek Bell.
This year’s competition will feature 10 classes – one for each year of the event’s history – with a special group dedicated to Pininfarina-penned Ferraris.
“The Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elegance is renewed around the world for its impressive line-ups of classics each year,” said concours chairman Andrew Bagley. “Last year’s winners continue to set a high standard and I’m confident that our far-reaching range of classes will entice many enthusiasts. We’re also very proud of our panel of judges who are some of the most knowledgable and experienced automotive professionals out there.”
A number of classics that are already confirmed to take part in the concours turned out for the recent press day and included the Bentley Speed Six of Peter Neumark – ‘Old Number Three’. The 1930 example is one of the last two of its type produced and will contest the Competition Cars class.
A 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS will also be taking to the concours field. Chassis 055 is one of around 100 examples built, and was campaigned in the 1964 and 1965 European GT Championships painted in the distinctive Dutch national racing colour of orange.
