More than 750 classic Fords are expected to descend upon the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon for the 7th Old Ford Rally, which is due to take place on 19 July.
The event is one of the largest gatherings of classic Fords in the country, and caters for all Ford-built cars, commercials and tractors produced until 1991. This year’s show will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of WW2, including a special display dedicated to the Detroit firm’s wartime workhorses. Up to 25 military vehicles have been promised, courtesy of the North Oxon and Cotswolds Military Vehicle Trust, while visitors are encouraged to wear period dress.
In addition to the military theme, there will also be special displays dedicated to the company’s earliest vehicles, namely the Model T, plus other models from the pre-war era.
Post-war classics also play an important role at the event, with Zephyrs, Zodiacs and Granadas always turning out in impressive numbers, while there’s also expected to be a strong showing of later Cortinas and Capris. The ‘backbone of Britain’ is also set to feature, with a modest club display of pre-1990 Transits.
“The Old Ford Rally is a real enthusiasts show and incredibly popular amongst Ford fans,” said show manager Tom Caren. “It’s a great day out for anyone interested in old vehicles.”
