A staggering selection of Formula One cars and mighty pre-war titans are slated to descend upon Brooklands Museum for the annual Autumn Motorsport Day on 11 October, with several examples expected to take part in high-speed demonstration laps of the neighbouring Mercedes-Benz World circuit.
Among the headline-grabbing Grand Prix cars will be John Reaks’ Benetton B190, which stormed to victory at Suzuka and Adelaide in the 1990 Formula One season at the hands of Nelson Piquet.
The Benetton will be displayed alongside a 1951 Ferrari 212 F1 – one of only two examples ever built. The 2.5-litre V12 made its debut at the Siracusa Grand Prix in 1951, where it was driven by Dorino Serafini, and it’s also thought to have been raced by Luigi Villoresi and Froilan Gonzales.
Michael Vardy’s Fiat Isotta Fraschini is expected to be one of the earliest cars at the event. The chassis has been created using original Fiat factory blueprints dating back to 1905, while power is provided by a 16.1-litre Isotta Fraschini aero engine from 1917.
