A stunning line-up of classics valued at more than £18m has gathered to preview Classic & Sports Car – The London Show, which takes place at Alexandra Palace from 30 October-1 November.
A world-class group of classics including a Ferrari 250GT California Spider, Mercedes-Benz 300SL ‘Gullwing’, Pontiac Trans Am and Jaguar E-type Roadster was joined outside Alexandra Palace for the event’s media preview by an Aston Martin DB4GT. Several other examples of the marque will take centre stage at the event thanks to a headline-grabbing display of the firm’s most iconic classics.
One of the most significant Aston Martins – the oldest surviving example, ‘A3’, will also be making a rare appearance. The car, which has recently undergone a three-year restoration, is on loan from the Aston Martin Heritage Trust for the duration of the exhibition.
The rare and expensive collection will be eclipsed by the cumulative value of the show cars, which will number more than 300 and come from some of the world’s most exclusive car dealerships and finest private collections.
A special display dedicated to Sir Stirling Moss’ competition cars is also expected to be one of the top draws of the event. Among their number will be the race ace’s 1957 British Grand Prix-winning Vanwall. The car carried Moss to victory after Tony Brooks became ill, and entered the history books as the first British built car to win a British Grand Prix while being driven by a British driver.
The Vanwall will be joined by the BRM P25 in which Moss set the fastest lap at Reims in 1959, just prior to suffering a spin that forced him to attempt a push start to rejoin the race. A gearbox failure eventually put him out of contention.
As well as the stunning displays, visitors to the show will be able to take advantage of a special parking area reserved exclusively for classic cars. Full details can be found by clicking here
