A 1928 Bentley 4 1/2 Litre has been announced as one of the star exhibits at next year’s InterClassics Maastricht, which takes place in the Dutch town from 14-17 January.
The model burst into the public consciousness in 1928, when Woolf Barnato and Bernard Rubin fought off the Stutz DV16 Blackhawk of Eduoard Brisson and Robert Bloch in their Bentley, which was nicknamed ‘Old Mother Gun’. As a result of their success, Bentley released a number of Le Mans Replicas with Vanden Plas coachwork for public sale. One of those cars now resides in the Louwmann Collection, and will be going on show at InterClassics.
The car will be joined by a number of other Rolls-Royce and Bentley models to illustrate the theme ‘British Royals: Bentley & Rolls-Royce’.
In addition to the Bentley and Rolls-Royce celebration, the event will also mark 100 years of BMW by assembling no fewer than 30 of the manufacturer’s most influential and eye-catching models.
