Two Lamborghini Countachs – a late Anniversary Edition and rare right-hand-drive 5000S – are expected to cause a stir when they cross the block at Silverstone Auctions’ 20 May sale. Both have been tipped to sell for more than £300,000.
A rare Horacio Pegani-designed 25th Anniversary Edition – one of just 627 built to celebrate the firm’s 25th birthday – is to be offered for sale for the first time in more than 16 years. The right-hand-drive car was once owned by Cleo Roberts, who went on to become the wife of legendary designer and racing driver Carroll Shelby.
The car has covered just 8000 miles from new and represents the final iteration of Sant A’gata’s V12 supercar, sporting wild wheel arch extensions, cavernous air ducts and a top speed of 185mph. It is estimated at £250-300,000.
“A supercar with provenance associated with Carroll Shelby is a very intriguing thing,” said managing director Nick Whale. “This car has a special past, which makes it even more desirable to collectors and enthusiasts.”
Also up for grabs is a 1983 Countach 5000S, one of just 320 examples, just a handful of which were right-hand-drive. The car was supplied new to Prince Salman Bin Saud Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and spent five years in his Saudi Arabia-based collection. It returned to the UK in 1988, when it was fully restored by Lamborghini specialist Mike Pullen.
