A host of world-class sports racers are set to return to Silverstone for the first time in decades as part of the Silverstone Classic’s 90s Endurance Legends grid, which takes to the circuit from 29-31 July.
Among the classics poised to make their Silverstone return is the V12-powered Ferrari 333SP – the car which marked the Prancing Horse’s official return to sports car racing following a 20-year absence.
Also from the Ferrari stable is a 575GTC Evo – one of just two Evo versions produced by the factory. It will be joined by two F430s.
Memories of Bob Wollek and Tiff Needell’s exploits at the circuit will be revived by the sight of two of Jaguar’s fire-breathing XJR15s making their return to the circuit. The cars were introduced in 1991 and competed in a three-round, one-make championship, which took place at Silverstone, Monaco and Spa.
The grid includes a number of other 1990s poster cars, most notably the long-tail McLaren F1 GTR, Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR and Porsche’s outrageous GT1. Fans of the Stuttgart marque will also be treated to the sight of two 993 GT2s, four 964 RSRs and six 996 GT3 RSs.
