Visitors to Classic Car Auction’s latest sale will have the opportunity to bid on two very different MGs, but each with mileage so low it’s scarcely believable. The 22 September sale will play host to a 1981 MGB LE Roadster with just 1963 miles on the clock, and a modern classic 2005 MG ZR 105 which has covered just 759.
First up is a 1981 MGB LE Roadster – on of the last examples of the long-lived model to roll off the production line. The bronze metallic roadster is one of just 208 examples fitted with wire wheels, and has been in the care of its current owner since 2000, when it was bought from All Electric Garages having covered less than 1000 miles.
The car was run for a while before being placed into dry storage in 2007. The car seems to be remarkably original, save for its original ‘deckchair’ cloth seats being replaced with leather versions early in its life. It is expected to sell for between £9000 and £11,000.
Fans of more modern classics will be tempted by a 2005 MG ZR 105, which has covered even fewer miles than the MGB – just 759.
The Trophy Blue example is a true timewarp, having been bought new by car collector and rarely driven. The car comes complete with a history file, all its original booklets and documentation, plus SORN certificates and MoTs from the time it was on the road.
The ZR is expected to sell for between £5000 and £7000, making it a comparative bargain when considered alongside more popular models of the same era.
