One of the most exciting collections of farm machinery to go to auction in recent years will cross the block at Mecum’s 16 September sale in Royersford, Pennsylvania as the life’s work of Henry ‘Bud’ Reifsneider is sold following his death in January.
Reifsneider’s lifelong passion for farming history led him to amass an incredible collection of more than 120 tractors and 100 farm implements, which he eventually opened to the public under the Black Forty Museum banner. It’s difficult not to feel a twinge of sadness when the life’s work of a dedicated collector ends up heading for the auction block, but some comfort can be taken from the excitement that the lots are sure to cause – particularly as each will be offered at no reserve.
