An immensely rare pre-production Aston Martin DB4 – just the third right-hand-drive DB4 ever built – is being offered for sale by Hexagon Classics following an exhaustive restoration.
The 1959 DB4 is finished in Blu Scozia and spent its early years as a demonstrator at the firm’s London dealership, before passing into the ownership of marque enthusiast Richard Williams, who kept the car for 37 years.
Fully retrimmed in leather and converted to run on triple Weber carburettors as per the Vantage, the Aston was also upgraded with a five-speed gearbox and larger offset wire wheels, which necessitated modifications to the wheel arches.
The DB4 saw plenty of action throughout its life having become a regular fixture at hill climbs up and down the country. It has now been fully restored at a cost of £222,000, which included the engine being rebuilt to 4.2 specification and the rest of the car being brought up to concours standard. It even retains its original registration number.
