A unique 1965 Ferrari 275GTB is poised to become one of the top sellers at Gooding & Co’s upcoming Scottsdale auction, which takes place in Arizona on 19-20 January. It is estimated to fetch between $8,000,000-$10,000,000.
The remarkable one-of-a-kind 275GTB Speciale was built by Pininfarina and became the personal car of boss Battista Pininfarina, as well as starring role at a number of high-profile motor shows beginning with Paris in October 1964. By September 1965 the Ferrari had been exhibited at Frankfurt, going on show in Torino two months later and Brussels the following year.
The incredible Ferrari has spent the past 25 years in a major private collection, largely kept from public display. Its last foray on the show circuit took place in the early 1990s, when it picked up a class win at Pebble Beach and won the Excellence Cup at the Cavalino Classic.
Though its family resemblance is clear to see, the Speciale featured a number of bespoke coachwork details setting it apart from the standard model, most notably a lack of vent window. It is finished in Acqua Verde Metallizzato.
