This incredible 1959 Maserati Tipo 60/61 ‘Birdcage’ is looking for a new owner – are your pockets deep enough?
It's going to auction in Germany this Saturday – 4 August – with Coys at its Schloss Dyck sale.
The Tipo 60/61 earned its ‘Birdcage’ nickname due to its Giulio Alfieri-engineered, intricate tubular frame and chassis.
Maserati built just 16 examples, Stirling Moss showcasing the car's talents by taking one to victory in the 1960 Nürburgring 1000km.
The car that's heading to auction was prepared for racing by Alfred Momo and it's gained the necessary certification permitting it to race in prestigious events including the Goodwood Revival and Le Mans Classic.
"This car offers a collector a chance to own a unique race car," said Chris Routledge, CEO of Coys. "It is going to be sold with a large amount of documentation, photographs, full rebuild invoices from Steve Hart Racing and confirmation of the car's original components used directly from Momo.”

Also set to cross the block on Saturday is a 1963 Maserati 3500 GTi Superleggera by Touring, pictured above.
