It’s that time of the month again… time for a new issue of Classic & Sports Car!

1. Happy birthday Land-Rover!

It surely can’t have passed you by that Land-Rover is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2018.

To mark such an auspicious occasion, C&SC’s Martin Port went to Spain to recreate the model’s very first demo – in the same vehicle.

We also take a romp through some of the marque’s landmark vehicles from the last 70 years – both on and off the road.

2. Everyday stars

We’ve got yet more candles to blow out from page 158, as we rewind to October 1948 with the then-new five-strong Earls Court line-up from the Nuffield Organisation.

Reuniting a Morris Oxford MO, a Wolseley 4/50, a Morris Six MS, a Wolseley 6/80 and a Morris Minor MM, we aim to pay proper tribute to the cars that gave some hope to post-war Britain.

We also take a peek behind the doors of the 1948 Earls Court show, checking out the year's latest and greatest from the UK – and overseas.

3. A road-ready racer

Take one iconic British sports car and one well-heeled enthusiast, and the result is often rather special.

This one-off, clearly much-enjoyed Jaguar E-type’s demure grey body belies the host of tweaks and upgrades made to satisfy a baronet’s request for a Lightweight version for the road.

It’s a fascinating insight into this manufacturer-customer relationship, as well as an emotional trip down memory lane for the family of the man who commissioned it. Mick Walsh is the man behind the wheel.

4. Open and shut case

It’s not all British might in our September issue – just check out these gorgeous Ghiblis! Martin Buckley argues that these are the finest Maseratis of all, as he drives an SS coupé and a Spyder.

5. Le Mans Classic 2018

7. Forgotten masterpiece

When lists are compiled of the greatest cars of any type or given era, the Hispano-Suiza is rarely given its due. Making the straight-six’s case for glory is Richard Heseltine aboard this striking 1924 H6B. It really is something special.
